Mark Abel Salazar was born in July of 1964, in Eagle Lake, Texas, to Abel and Ortensia (Sosa) Salazar. He passed peacefully on August 5th, 2026, after a battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and true friend. He was always helping others when they needed his help. He was a lecturer at the Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church, a member of the KC’s Council # 4843. Over the years, he volunteered for the church festival, little league, chaperoned for the band, and of course creating baseball teams any time he could with his friends and his co-workers.

He graduated from Rice High School, and continued his education earning an Associate's in Arts in 1985 at WCJC, Certified Respiratory Therapist/CRT in1990 at Victoria College, Introduction to Hyperbaric Technologist at Richland Memorial Hospital in March of1992, earning his Certified Hyperbaric Technologist in November of1992 at National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technologist. His career began as a Respiratory Therapist in Victoria and advanced into Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Directory in southern Texas. Returning to the Houston area where he was employed at Kelsey Seybold Clinics in Houston for his final 13 years.

He is survived by his parents; his loving wife Elida of 35 years; daughters, Kathryn Castillo (Abraham), and Sophia Salazar (Chris Lopez); sisters; Sandra Escobedo (Arnold), Linda Lou Lovings (Charles), Billie Jean Salazar (Jeremery Stoddard) and Nina Teague (Tim). Granddaughters; Amelia, Athena, and Aurora, along with a grandson on the way. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

His family will receive friends from 5 PM - 6 PM, on Thursday, August 13th, 2026, in the chapel of the Eagle Lake Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus, Council # 4843, at 6 PM.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Friday, August 14h, 2026, at the Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church, with Father Robert F. Guerra, officiating. After the Mass we will proceed to the Nativity Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Almanza, Joe Mike Young, Troy Grounds, Tony Tyler, Tim Teague, and Jimmy Sosa. Honorary Pallbearers are Phoenix Teague & Brandon Sosa.

In lieu of usual remembrances memorials maybe be made in Mark's name to the Scholarship Funds for the Catholic Daughters Court Our Lady of the Fields # 2465 or the Knights of Columbus Council # 4843
