Maria De La Garza

Maria De La Garza, 89, of Eagle Lake, Texas, passed away suddenly on July 14, 2025 in Eagle Lake Texas. She was born on February 29, 1936 in Allende, Coah, Mexico, to Juan Sanchez and Guadalupe Gonzalez Sanchez.

An active wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved gardening and cooking; had love for frogs, and really loved to play chalupa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Micaela Fuentes, and Margarita Leija, and brothers, Pedro and Manuel Sanchez. Maria is survived by her husband of 66 years

Visitation will be held from 5-6 PM on Monday, July 21st, with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 PM in the chapel of the Eagle Lake Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 22nd at the Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jaime Perez, Arturo De La Garza, Jr., Marcus Cortez, Erik De La Garza, Jose De La Garza, Jr., Lucio Davila, Jr., Ezekiel Davila, and Jake Morales.
