In Loving Memory of Josiah Frank Cobia
September 16, 2006 – April 11, 2025
Josiah Frank Cobia was born on September 16, 2006, to Frank and Idalia (Yuri) Cobia at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Texas. From the moment he arrived, Josiah brought immeasurable joy and pride to his parents and family. He was a happy, healthy baby whose presence was a gift to all who loved him. Josiah spent his childhood between Houston and Eagle Lake, Texas, and was shaped by the love and strength of the communities around him. He began his education at Alief Montessori Community School, then continued at Eagle Lake Intermediate and Rice Consolidated Junior High before attending Rice Consolidated High School, where he was a senior. Josiah was just weeks away from graduation—on the cusp of stepping into adulthood and making his mark on the world. Josiah was a natural leader and protector, deeply devoted to his family. He shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings—Beautiful, Jireh, and Jericho. He often spoke of his dreams for the future and his promise to always take care of those he loved. His fierce loyalty, big heart, and sense of responsibility to his family were defining parts of who he was. Josiah was a gifted athlete—competitive, determined, and naturally talented in any sport he tried. Whether on the field or the court, he stood out not just for his skill but for his leadership and presence. Growing up in Eagle Lake, sports became his second home, and his teammates became brothers—a brotherhood rooted in loyalty and shared ambition. In addition to his athleticism, Josiah excelled academically. Intelligent, insightful, and always curious, he consistently earned a place on the honor roll. He had a quick wit and a clever sense of humor, often accompanied by his signature coy smile that could lift spirits and bring levity to any room. Josiah had big dreams and was actively making plans for life after high school. His goals were centered not just on personal success, but on ensuring he could support and uplift his family—an ambition that spoke volumes about his character. Josiah was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jose Morales Sr., and his beloved cousins Ben Cabrera, Alyssia Sosa, and Zaiden Hernandez—whom he shared a close bond with in life and is now reunited with in peace. He leaves behind his loving parents, Frank and Idalia (Yuri) Cobia; his cherished sister Beautiful; his brothers Frank, Jireh and Jericho; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, friends, educators, and classmates who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Josiah’s life, though tragically short, was filled with love, purpose, and potential. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and light—a young man who was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
