Frieda DiAnn Suggs, age 81, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence in Eagle Lake, Texas, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
DiAnn was born on December 22, 1944, at Pasadena Hospital in Pasadena, Texas, at 2:30 a.m. to Don and Frieda Cochran. She grew up in Spring Branch and graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1963. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, in 1970.
DiAnn devoted her life to education, working with students in Mercedes, Houston (at M.B. Smiley High School), and Magnolia (at Magnolia High School) for a remarkable 43 years. She was a dedicated teacher, mentor, and sponsor who touched countless young lives through her guidance, encouragement, and unwavering commitment. She was also a lifelong member of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG), an international society of women educators.
In May of 1967, DiAnn married her college sweetheart, Dudley Allen Suggs. He preceded her in death in 2018, after 51 years of faithful and loving marriage.
DiAnn will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She is survived by her son, David Suggs and wife Karyn; daughter, Kimberly Beans and husband Bill; grandchildren, Dillan, Tyler, Kyle, Victoria, Kaylee, Madeline, Emily, Andrew, Samantha, Garrett, Ryan, Molly, and Meghan; honorary daughters, Kim Moore and husband Den, and Penny Henske and husband Mike; sisters, Doris Suggs Scarbrough and Claudia Suggs Rawlins and husband Mike; and brother, Ray Suggs. She also leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family with whom she shared years of treasured memories of family reunions, celebrations, football games, holidays, vacations, teaching, service, and faith.
DiAnn was a devoted member of Eagle Lake Methodist Church.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday morning, May 9, 2026, at Eagle Lake Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m., and a graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery.
