Bernie Parma was born in Ammannsville, Texas on December 13, 1935 to Stanley F. and Martha M. Faldyn Parma. He passed away in peace on December 26, 2020 with his loving daughter, Cindy Ann Parma at his side.
Bernie's family moved to Eagle Lake, Texas in 1937 and he was raised there with his family in loving care until he graduated from Eagle Lake High School in 1954. He attended Wharton Junior College for two years, after which he transferred to Texas A&I College in Kingsville, now known as Texas A&M at Kingsville. He received his Bachelor's degree of Science in Engineering in 1961.
Following graduation from Texas A & M, Bernie worked for the Texas Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer for 32 years in the engineering and highway maintenance department garnering awards and much success. He retired from TxDOT in 1993 and remaine4d living in Houston until his death. Bernie's bright smile and genuine humor, his generosity and faithful devotion to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be sorely missed.
Bernie was an avid and formidable domino player and enjoyed fishing on the family property in Palacios, Texas. His barbecue was renowned throughout the family and he enjoyed nothing more tan cooking and serving his delectable delicacies to eager party goers.
Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley F. and Martha M. Faldyn Parma; wife Elizabeth Ann Parma; and sister-in-law Syble Parma.
Bernie is survived by his loving daughter, Cindy Ann Parma; devoted brother, Stanley F. Parma; nephew, Joseph and wife, Karen, and great niece Julia; nephew Jeffrey and wife, Erin, and great nieces Emily and Jennifer and great nephew Jeremy.
Visitation will be held at Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church in Eagle Lake, Texas on December 30, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. Rosary will follow at 1:30 p.m. and funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Father Robert Guerra presiding. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Eagle Lake, Texas, directed by Eagle Lake Funeral Home.
